India is a beautiful nation with different cultures and ethnicities. Each of our states has its traditions, dialects, cuisine, and customs. Nonetheless, inhabiting the same land leads us to regard ourselves as one nation, although what differentiates us could be languages or modes of dressing, etc. To foster more cultural harmony between these states, the government has started a special program called “Ek Bharat, Shreshta Bharat” to help people from different states learn about each other and also understand our unity in diversity.

What is Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat?

Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat is a special program started by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase interaction between citizens of different states. Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat was launched on October 31, 2015, on the 140th birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. He worked hard to unite all the princely states of India and integrate them into the Indian Union after independence. Through this program, one state/UT is paired with another state/UT. They plan for numerous cultural events aimed at each other’s customs, such as food, language, festivals, tourism, art, and sports, according to Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Wikipedia page.

It sums up Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat in English, which refers to “One India, Excellent India.” The core objective of this initiative is to foster unity among Indians through behavioral changes so that together, they can make their country stronger and greater.

Some of the main objectives of this Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program are:

  • Unity in Diversity: India has always been a secular country that treats all religions, languages, and cultures equally. Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat celebrates this quality of unity amidst diversity through cultural exchanges between states.
  • National Integration: Through diverse programs, people come close to each other through understanding and camaraderie that keep our country together.
  • Cultural Preservation: Each state showcases its rich heritage in terms of folk arts, crafts, music, dance, festivals, etc, for the others and preserves its artistic legacy.
  • Institutionalizing State Connect: The pairing creates lasting synergies among the states, which are beneficial for trade, education, and best practices beyond the duration of the program.
  • Mutual Learning: Participating states share expertise and models for development at the grassroots level in agriculture, health care, education, etc.

The Mission of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat

The main mission of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, is to celebrate unity and diversity within our nation. There are numerous languages and cultures in India, but we all stand together as one nation based on common human values like democracy, justice, brotherhood, etc.

Through this program, the government aims to strengthen the emotional bonds between citizens from different parts of the country. By promoting cultural understanding and shared experiences, it wants to enhance our feelings of national pride and integrity.

The Nation’s Vision

The vision behind Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat meaning is for every Indian to appreciate the diversity and richness of our cultural mosaic. The program intends to instill a national identity that transcends regional, religious, and racial boundaries. The program envisions regular interactions in which people across India can learn from one another first-hand.

This is expected to replace stereotypes and misunderstandings with a sense of gratitude and benevolence. In the long run, such mutual awareness and bonding are expected to contribute to India’s social cohesion and progress as a nation.

Implementation Strategy

The government pairs states/UTs annually to undertake structured cultural activities for about a year. This pairing rotates each year, so maximum exposure is gained. Regular monitoring and impact evaluation helps assess goals. Citizens and institutions from all areas participate through self-monitoring and using resources optimally.

Youth is the prime focus, as also mentioned in Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Wikipedia. Orientation modules and training help synergize efforts. The vision flows down from top leaders through ministries to grassroots coordinators: technology and traditional media aid nationwide outreach. People’s love and nationalism for India are tapped into by connecting hearts through cultural immersion.

Key central government ministries contribute towards Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program goals. The nodal Ministry of Education guides the state regularly. Others supporting voluntarily are Culture, Tourism, I&B, Sports, and Youth Affairs.

State Pairing and Zonal Approach
